Our strengths lie in the development of lipid formulations (of pharmaceutics, food supplements or cosmetics) in solid state, which inherently exhibit improved handling properties and offer dosing flexibility while maintaining a high oil content.
Our technology is based on oil marbles – round liquid droplets, covered by a highly stable layer of fine solid particles. The powder particles prevent wetting, leakage or coalescence, causing the marbles to behave as individual objects. Their size is uniform and can be varied from 1 to 3 mm, depending on their composition and manufacturing parameters. While a variety of liquids can be encapsulated in this manner, we are mostly focusing on oil-based (lipidic) marbles as an ideal vehicle for poorly water-soluble molecules. In case of formulations containing solid-state lipids, melted liquid marbles are produced in liquid state and subsequently cooled down to solidify.
Due to the technique’s uniqueness, we have developed our own device to produce melt liquid marbles. This device enables us to manufacture precise marbles of desired sizes and compositions, which affects their physical properties. It is currently in the process of being implemented into the GMP regime, which will give us the potential to meet all requirements presented by regulatory authorities.
